Account and Data Deletion
Effective Date: May 9, 2026
This page explains how Map My Parks users can request deletion of a Shared Map account and associated data.
1. Delete Your Account in the App
- Open Map My Parks.
- Go to Settings.
- Open Shared Map.
- Choose Delete Account and Data.
- Confirm the deletion prompt.
If you are the shared map owner, this deletes the shared map account and shared-map data associated with that account. If you are a member, you can leave the shared map from the same area.
2. Request Deletion by Email
If you cannot access the app, email support@mapmyparks.com from the email address used for Shared Map sign-in and include "Account Deletion Request" in the subject line.
3. Data Deleted
- Shared Map account records and membership records.
- Shared visited-park progress, trip logs, trip notes, and trip photo metadata.
- Shared trip photo files stored for shared-map sync.
4. Data Retained
- On-device data remains on your device until you delete it, reset app data, or uninstall the app.
- Google Play and Apple App Store purchase records are managed by Google and Apple.
- Some deleted shared-map photo records may remain in a soft-deleted state for up to 30 days before scheduled cleanup.
- Operational, security, and legal records may be retained for a limited period where needed for abuse prevention, service integrity, or legal compliance.
5. Subscription Management
Deleting a Shared Map account does not cancel a Pro subscription. Manage subscriptions through Google Play or the Apple App Store.
